Karave – The Port and Harbour, Gavdos

Karave. Gavdos – the port.

Almost every visitor to the island of Gavdos will arrive at Karave.

The small harbour seems to have recently been upgraded although some visitors may find it still a little basic.

There is a part-finished two-storey building where you will find some refreshments and maybe a little shade.

When we visited there was a pungent aroma of animal poo in the area which may be down to the stray cats and dogs which visit the harbour for a bite to eat.

The harbour is simply a stopping off point from where you will continue on your way.
